Visit the historic yet forgotten Mouraria district in the near future. Thriving, self-sufficient, and no longer subject to tourism or municipal interference. Lagares do Alvará thus tells a critical story about urban renewal and the pursuit of a ‘smooth city’, where all rough edges have disappeared and the city is made as attractive as possible for investors.
